FIRST THINGS FIRST

Think of all the firsts in your life. First step. First day of school. First kiss. First job. First home. The list goes on and on.

There’s something about doing something for the first time that’s really scary. Afraid of the unknown. Not sure you’ll be good at it. Not sure you’ll like it. So much uncertainty.

And here I sit facing more firsts in my life: starting a blog, launching a business, developing a web site and brand. Scary? You bet!

I don’t know if people are going to like our stuff. So far, we’ve only received positive feedback, but who knows? Putting yourself out there creatively takes courage, especially if you’re an introvert like I am.

But here I am, at age 57, doing what I love and loving what I’m doing. Well, the creative side of the business anyway. Truth be told, I do not enjoy the business side of business. I’ve heard that’s a common theme with creative folks.

I’m not building this business to make millions of dollars. I’m doing it because I love being behind the camera and capturing special moments and memories. And this blog? This is your go-to place to get a fix of happy… or inspiration. Or, maybe a fix to fulfill your creative cravings. Maybe the fix you need is a tip or trick. Maybe you just need to escape your everyday routine with a fix of pix. Or, maybe you need to wow someone with a special gift.

Whatever is going on in your world, I hope you’ll come along for the wrightpix ride. I hope you’ll feel what we felt every time we pushed that shutter-release button. Because when we look through that viewfinder, when we hear that clicking noise after we capture what we think is a keeper, we get that “happy place” euphoria feeling. I hope that when you view our photos and gift items, you not only see what we saw, but you feel something. That your heart does a happy dance. That, my friend, is the power of photography.

[The image with this post is the first photo we used to make a gift item: a small glass print. Kaleigh took this “wish” photo during one of her Westborough High School photography classes.]

“Every wish carries with it an ounce of hope.”
